Pearl - ADOPTED AND HAPPILY LIVING IN VISTA
Miss Pearl was saved from the Devore shelter in San Bernardino on April 30th and transported to San Diego where she is loving her foster home in Oceanside until she finds her forever home. She is approximately 1-year-old, spayed, up-to-date on shots and microchipped.
Pearl really likes other dogs, and now guinea pigs too. We think she would love to go to a home where they have some time to continue reassuring her, especially after another change. She loves to be held, and wrapped in blankets. She likes men just fine- but she is a girls girl, for sure.
Pearl seems to really like water, and she LOVES to chase bubbles. She is still learning fetch- so far it’s just one way but she does like to ” kill” the soft toys. She is excited at first to meet people but quickly settles down and looks for a lap to sit on. She does well in her crate but if course would rather be in bed. Loves car rides. Pearl would love to be with someone who is home a lot or can take her with them. She has ” house manners”. Will stay down, come here, etc. Will need some more work for sit. But she will ” go lay down and stay”. Part of that though is she’s just following the other dogs.

Drake - ADOPTED AND LIVING HAPPILY EVER AFTER IN MENIFEE!
Meet Drake. Drake is approximately two years old, neutered, up-to-date on shots and microchipped. Drake was nearly euthanized at the very overcrowded Devore Shelter in San Bernardino, where he patiently waited from April 26th until May 7th until the kind folks at Upward Dog Rescue pulled him on his very last day. How could we say no to this sweet face? He loves other dogs and is looking for a family to love forever.

LUCKY - ADOPTED!!! - ** SPECIAL NEEDS **

Lucky came to Upward Dog Rescue on March 12, 2012. He is a beautiful 5-6 month old Chihuahua puppy who came to us as a stray from Rialto, and was saved from the San Bernardino County Shelter in Devore. Unbeknownst to us when we saved him, Lucky has only 3 functional paws. He was born without a right scapula or humerus. This does not seem to deter him.
His veterinarian recommended that the right front leg be amputated as he has no control over it and it could become caught or injured. Upward Dog Rescue raised funds for this procedure and Lucky had his surgery on April 5th. See post-surgery pics!
Please fill out our foster application or adoption application to set up a time to meet Lucky!
TIPSY - ADOPTED ** SPECIAL NEEDS – NOT HANDICAPPED **

Tipsy is incredibly sweet, and is NOT at all people or dog aggressive, despite the significant battle scars that cover her face and beautiful long ears. We are not sure if her injuries are from a run in with a car, or the hands of a human, or possibly from a dog. She seems to have some mild cognitive impairment due to her head trauma, but she is able to see and hear just fine. She is a little clumsy, occasionally she falls over, but then she gets right back up again. She is not physically handicapped and can easily do a 3 mile walk, and benefits from exercise. We are not sure if her “tipsyness” will improve over time or if she’ll always be this way. It appears that she had a broken jaw, and broken tail that have healed already, but neither of these seem to affect her or cause her any discomfort. Tips weighs about 17 pounds, gets along great with other dogs, and is fully vetted, with all shots, flea treatment, microchipped and dewormed. If you would like to meet Tipsy, fill out our application and then call (858)345-2434. We would love to find her a home that has another dog that will play with her! She is currently sleeping in a crate at night with a dachshund and benefits greatly from the companionship.

MR. BISCUITS - ADOPTED

Black dogs are difficult to photograph – Mr. Biscuits is no exception. It’s difficult to capture this one-year-old pup’s magical essence in a photograph, so you must meet him and feel his long, wirey coat. Mr. Biscuits came to us as a stray from Rialto and spent time at the high-kill Devore shelter before Upward Dog Rescue saved him from being put to sleep due to overcrowding. He is thrilled to be in a loving foster home until his forever family finds him.
Our best guess is Mr. Biscuits is an Terrier/Chihuahua Mix. Mr. Biscuits weighs only 10 pounds, and is small enough to pick up with one hand. He is energetic, friendly and not fearful. He gets along well with other dogs of all sizes, please no cats.
Mr. Biscuits’ adoption fee of $125 includes his recent neuter surgery at Mohnacky Animal Hospital in Carlsbad, his Home Again Microchip, and Rabies, DHLPP, and Bordatella vaccines.
To meet Mr. Biscuits, first fill out our adoption application and then call (858)345-2434 to set up an introduction. Mr. Biscuits is fostered in San Diego (Rancho Penasquitos).

Michelle – ADOPTED AND LIVING HAPPILY EVER AFTER IN RAMONA!!
Michelle is a one-year-old, spayed female Jack Russell Terrier / Dachshund mix with a lot of personality and infectious enthusiasm. She was saved from Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control’s Downey location on Friday, February 3, 2012 and is thrilled to be in a loving foster home in Carlsbad. Her notes indicate that she was found abandoned in a park and brought in by a good Samaritan.
Michelle is a happy-go-lucky girl and gets along great with other dogs of all sizes, and currently is having a ball playing with her foster sister, a 10-pound mini-dachshund, and two foster brother beagles. We don’t know how she is with cats, but think she would be just fine. She loves people, and is very friendly and not fearful.
Michelle’s adoption fee of $250 includes her pull from Los Angeles County, transport to San Diego, spay surgery at Mohnacky Animal Hospital in Carlsbad, microchip, Rabies Vaccine, Distemper / Parvo (DHLPP Vaccine), and Bordatella vaccine. All of her records will be provided to her new adoptive family.
Sadly, there are hundreds of dogs like Michelle that do not get saved and are tragically put to sleep due to overcrowding. Michelle, one of the lucky few to be saved, hopes that she will find her forever family quickly so that other dogs will get the opportunity she was given to be loved.
If you would like to meet Michelle, fill out our online application and then contact Valerie at (858)345-2434 (858)345-2434 or email info@upwarddogrescue.org.
Can’t adopt Michelle but want to let others know about her? Tweet her or FB her video or post a flyer at your favorite coffee shop. Everything helps!
