Caring for our dogs takes a lot of love, money, time and supplies.  Unfortunately, funds from adoptions ($125-$250) do not cover the operational costs of a rescue. With physically and mentally disabled special needs dogs, adoption fees are sometimes even waived to ensure a dog receives a loving home. Here is our wishlist. Contact us if you would like to get involved! Any and all help is so appreciated.

Monetary Donations

We always need:

We always need donations and sponsors to cover:

  • Vet care – this is far and away our biggest expense. Dogs often come to us straight from the shelter with medical ailments like upper respiratory infections, eye infections, ear infections, and abscessed wounds. Even with our generous vet discount at Mohnacky Animal Hospital, it is not uncommon for veterinary bills for a single dog to exceed $300.  In some cases, vet care for a dog can be in excess of $1,000.
  • Gas – We pay for transportation of our dogs from San Bernardino and Los Angeles to San Diego County.  Our transporters donate their time, but we contribute towards gas.
  • Dog food – Although some of our fosters are able to donate food, some are low-income and cannot foster without donated food.
  • Occasional overnight boarding – If a foster is out of town temporarily, we pay to board the dog at our vet or partner boarding facility.

We always need:

  • Fosters – this is our biggest need! We need dedicated fosters who don’t get flustered by an occasional potty accident or separation anxiety. Fosters who are willing to help market dogs are especially valuable.
  • Social Media Networkers  Get online and help us get Facebook likes, twitter followers, etc. This in turn helps us raise money and find other volunteers!  We also need people to post/renew ads on craigslist.
  • Fundraisers  – Help us get a network of sponsors to donate $3 or $5 a month.

Upward Dog Rescue is happy to provide an email address and order 500 color business cards to dedicated and committed volunteers.
